Part of the “Who Are You Trying to Convince?” Series
By Coach D
You ever scroll through your feed and feel like everybody’s winning but you?
Vacations. Promotions. Marriages. Miracles.
All wrapped up in filtered photos with cute captions like, “God did.”
And listen—I’m all for celebrating the wins. But let’s be real…
Too many of us are posting highlight reels while privately unraveling.
The Pressure to Look “Okay”
We live in a world that rewards the appearance of peace, even if you’re falling apart inside.
So we post smiling selfies on Sunday, but we cried ourselves to sleep on Saturday.
We share the good news, not the hard truth.
And it starts to feel like… maybe if we can just make it look like we’re okay, we’ll eventually believe it too.
But that’s not healing.
That’s hiding.
The Emotional Toll
Performing takes energy.
It’s heavy work pretending to be healed when you’re still bleeding. '
It drains your peace, clouds your mind, and delays your growth.
You know what’s really brave?
Logging off. Sitting with your stuff. Doing the actual work.

The Healing Work Nobody Sees
Healing isn’t glamorous.
It’s quiet. It’s sacred. It’s often messy.
It’s crying with a journal in your lap and no audience to cheer you on.
It’s reading scripture not to quote it—but to survive the day.
I’ve found the most peace not in likes or shares, but in the private moments with God, my pen, and my truth.
Healing > Highlighting
Here are a few things I personally use when I need to disconnect from the noise and reconnect with my healing:
Gratitude or Shadow Work Journal
Because healing starts with honesty.
A Soft Throw Blanket
Because comfort matters when you’re coming undone and putting yourself back together again.
Bible Highlighters / Tabs
Because reflecting on the Word in a way that speaks directly to you helps shift the whole atmosphere.
Instead of curating perfection, I’ve been learning to heal in quiet moments-wrapped in this cozy blanket and writing in my healing journal. Sis, it’s a vibe. And more than that, it’s freedom.
What You Can Do This Week
🔲 Take one day off from social media
🔲 Journal honestly—what are you pretending isn’t bothering you?
🔲 Write one scripture you want to live, not just quote
🔲 Create a space in your home to heal, not perform
Coach D’s Final Word
You don’t owe the world your performance.
You owe yourself the truth.
Healing isn’t a show. It’s not supposed to be pretty.
But it will set you free.
Let the highlight reel go.
Do the healing work.
Reflection Prompt:
“What am I showing the world…and what am I still hiding myself?”
